Rare Rutherglen Tawny
Wine
Pfeiffer Rare Rutherglen Tawny is a blend of fruit from Pfeiffer's 26 rows of Portuguese varieties, including Touriga Naçional, Tinta Barocca, Tinta Cao and Tinta Roriz.
All the varieties are partially fermented together on skins. The wine is then pressed and fortified using a neutral grape spirit. The resulting sweet wine is clarified and placed into barrels and casks to age.
Maturation turns the red and purple colours of the wine to orange and brown, with it turning the flavours rich and complex. Only the best parcels, aged 3-30 years, are blended. The wine has an average age of 25 years.
Deep red brown, Pfeiffer Rare Rutherglen Tawny has concentrated aged characters, dried fruit flavours and nutty persistence. Ready to drink on release.
